Exploring animals and nature is my passion. From childhood, I’ve enjoyed making art focused on creatures of all kinds.

I grew up in Western Pennsylvania in a family of artists. My grandfather was a glass designer, model and pattern maker in Pittsburgh, PA and my dad was a commercial artist. As a result, My twin sister Leslie and I were exposed to all sorts of art materials and techniques.

As a kid, I spent lots of time wandering in woods and wading in waters, fresh and otherwise — even today, I’ve been known to excitedly step into a stream at a moment’s notice.

I work with many materials, ranging from acrylics and watercolors to colored pencils and mixed media. I’m fascinated by how art materials continue to change and am always on the lookout for new tools to incorporate into my work.

I believe — regardless of past experience, everyone has the ability to be creative.

Education

I have a BA in Art from Gettysburg College, and an MA in Art History from University of Delaware. My professional experience has been in the museum field as a curator, exhibit designer, educator and administrator. I’ve worked in museums in Pennsylvania, New York, and Delaware. But I never lost my passion for creating art —and today, I’m fortunate to be creative on a full-time basis.
